What We Are Looking For:
Reporting to the Senior Controller, as a Capex Junior Controller you will be responsible for supporting the Group’s financial reporting processes, ensuring the collection and validation of data from Group companies, providing operational support for consolidation activities, preparing periodic reports, and assisting in planning and monitoring financial commitments towards both external and internal stakeholders.
Key Activities:
- Monitoring and planning of investments (CapEx), with a particular focus on Train/Real Estate construction projects: tracking the physical and financial progress of works, reconciling committed expenses, invoicing and approved budgets, and collaborating with the technical team to update investment plans and forecast CapEx cash flows.
- Support in the consolidation of Group financial data, through the collection, validation, and reconciliation of information from different companies, ensuring completeness, consistency, and accuracy of data.
- Support in preparing and developing periodic reports (monthly, quarterly, and annual), schedules, and comparative tables, including data extraction and analysis from management systems (ERP, Business Central) with advanced use of Excel.
- Collaboration in financial planning activities, including budget data collection and variance analysis (budget vs. actuals).
- Management of operational and administrative activities, including preparation of data rooms, support in due diligence processes, collaboration in periodic closings, and contribution to the implementation of new internal processes and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Economics, Finance, or related fields
- 1–3 years of experience in CapEx Controlling / Accounting roles
- Experience in monitoring multi-year projects or investment programs
- Basic knowledge of consolidation processes (preferred)
- Solid understanding of national accounting principles (basic/intermediate level)
- Basic knowledge of international accounting standards
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, complex formulas, data analysis, charts)
- Knowledge of capitalization processes and fixed asset accounting (CapEx vs. OpEx classification, asset commissioning, depreciation)
- Ability to read and interpret Work Progress Reports (SAL – Statements of Work Progress) and construction contracts
- Experience in managing and reconciling project budgets (planned vs. actual vs. committed)
- Familiarity with ERP systems (Business Central, SAP, Oracle) at a basic/intermediate level
- Basic knowledge of Business Intelligence tools (Power BI, Tableau)
- Ability to read and interpret financial statements
- Fluent English
- Reliability in meeting deadlines and timelines
- Good organizational and prioritization skills
- Proactive approach to identifying issues
- Team-oriented mindset and collaborative attitude
- Flexibility and adaptability in dynamic environments
